WW1 NZEF British War Medal and Victory Medal pair to the Auckland Regiment soldier who died of wounds received in France. Named 40611 PTE G.W.MCNEIL NZEF. He was wounded 30-3-1918 at the Somme France - suffered a gun shot wound to his back leaving him a parapalegic. He was evacuated back to New Zealand and discharged eventually passing away from his wounds 9-11-1918 and was burried at Purewa Cemetery Auckland.  Medals listed on Trademe on 1 December 2007
